The Pisgah basketball program offers a developmental coed program for 5/6 yr olds and team basketball for girls and boys 1st through 8th grade. All practices are held in the Family Life Center on South Campus. Games will be played in the Family Life Center on South campus and The Drummond Center on East Campus. Each team will have one practice per week in the evenings (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, between 5 and 9pm) and all games take place on Saturdays between 9am and 4pm. Your child will receive a uniform jersey & shorts and an end of the year trophy for the price of the league.
The success of Pisgah Sports relies on the participation of volunteer coaches, we would encourage you to join with us in the opportunity of touching a young child's life. Basketball playing and coaching experience is helpful but not a necessity, this year we are excited to have Douglas Byrd, Mount Pisgah Varsity Boys Basketball coach overseeing the program.
Douglas brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. He will be conducting our meetings, clinics and supplying practice activities and outlines that will help you to facilitate practices.
Age Groups
Ages 5-6yr old Coed Future Stars (Developmental League) - Program enhanced
The Future Stars program concentrates on the basic fundamentals of basketball. The coaches work with the players on dribble, passing, shooting and defensive and offensive fundamentals. Short games are played following each practice. Practices are held once (1) a week. No Saturday games will be played.
Boys and Girls who are 5 and 6 yrs old and have not yet entered 1st grade should register for this program. If you have already entered 1st grade you should register for that age group program.
There will be a maximum limit of 40 players accepted into this program, players will be split into 4 teams of 10, only two teams will practice at any given time slot, each team will have a full half court in which to conduct practice.
1st grade to 8th grade girls and boys - Program enhanced
All teams will be single gender 1st through 8th grade, it is our hope to create a single grade playing division, this is of course subject to levels of participation. Where needed to create a playing division grades will be combined.
